May-18	Sea Sunday Mission to Seafarers.
	With Kinsale's long tradition with the Sea, this is always an important day for the town and it's inhabitants, past and present. There is always a good range of events planned for this date, such as Rescue practices by RNLI lifeboats, Aer Corp and Marine Rescue displays, Irish Naval Service displays. The Hill and Coast rescue generally take the time to march in the parades. Local boats are blessed by local clergymen from the several churches of the area. Long traditions are relived. Enjoy.

May-20?	Marine Rescue Exercice.
	Becoming a regular event on the eve of Sea Sunday. This year both Kinsale and Courtmacsherry RNLI lifeboats will be involved in this exercise in Kinsale harbour. Also involved are the many volunteers from the Coastguard, Irish Navy, Civil Defense and more. The Navy and a Sea King helicopter will also be there. Always a good spectacule.

May-14 ??	National Birdwatch Day.
	There should be a few events advertised for this day on local papers. Possible venues this year are The Marsh in Kinsale (which has received a large grant in recent years) or the sloblands at Timoleague. A good contact site is at http://www.birdwatchireland.ie/

Jun xx- xx	8th International Steam and Vintage Rally, Innishannon. (About 10 mins from Kinsale). Becoming bigger each year, all manner of Steam engines, Rollers, Thrashing machines, (hay!), and an absolute traffic-jam of veteran and vintage cars and motorcycles.

Jun xx	Coastal Trek - from Old Head to Top of Hill
	Leaving from Old Head (Golf links gates) at 11:00 in aid of Comhaltas - Ballinspittle Branch. The cost of €10-00 includes soup & sandwiches. You are advised to bring walking boots and Rain-gear. (Also, don't forget the get-together following Saturday night (19/June) at Blue Horizon).

	Sea Angling Competition on Saturday & Sunday, with optional Training session on Friday. Entry is approx €100 per boat. Great fishing & craic over 3 days and nights. There is a reduction in charter boat prices for this event from Kinsale Nets - BOOK NOW!

Jul 12 - 20	Kinsale Arts Week
	The Arts Week brings together open-air and hall musical treats suiting all tastes, it fills Kinsale's many Galleries and Studios with an eclectic mix from the arts and crafts. Films from a selection of countries await you. Many of the town's cultural centres open late and introduce many events to add to their own burgeoning offerings. An exciting, almost manic, athmosphere teases the senses. There is something very interesting here for all tastes. Don't miss out.

Aug 26-Sep 03	Irish Heritage Week.
	Special Events occur throughout Ireland this week, many free, to mark Irish Heritage Week. See the website at www.heritageweek.ie and get to see some of the great number of events on offer. In Kinsale there are the extra items to our usual events including a great show at Charles Fort. On Sunday there is an Military re-enactment by the American Civil War and other groups.Also, the Cork Shakespearean Company will regale the town with recitals of some of the great man's sonnets. For all you sinners out there there is a chance to rejoin the path of virtue and righteousness, maybe, by visiting Charles Fort for the tribute to John Wesley - reenacting his earlier visit there over 200 years ago. For the rest of you, something totally different - a visit to the Wine Mueuem at Desmond Castle perhaps. Or hear local historian Eugene Gillan speak at the Kinsale Musuem.

Sep 09-11	Courtmacsherry Storytelling Carnival. A very well kept secret. Great Irish storytelling from the Ireland's greats. This festival is really worth a visit not just for the big names in Irish storytelling that have been coming here year after year, not just for the place itself which is beautiful and tranquil, but for the warmth of the people and the craic and good fun.

Oct 10 - 12	32nd Annual Kinsale Gourmet Festival Running fromThursday to Sunday, this is surely the mecca for many of Ireland's gourmands. Fun is the underlying thread that links many social events, outdoor activities and sports. Discovering new foods or their preperation is the twin thread that packages the complete experience. If you can spare a few days, or even one night, then do come along and experience this great event for yourself.

Oct 24 - 27	Kinsale Fringe Jazz Festival. This is an absolute must for all lovers of Jazz. However, if you cannot make it, don't despair. There is a Jazz session every Sunday morning at Acton's Hotel. It is great in itself or as a backdrop to the gentle perusal of the Sunday papers over a large brew of black coffee.

	Here's an annual event for us and not for you - Wintertime boat maintenance. Here, a fully reconditioned engine is about to go back into "Boy Scott" in 2001. Our boats are maintained to the highest standards. We are not asking you to join in on this event - but we do hope that you find something of interest here for you and your party. Annual maintenance at Wintertime is an event that we don't really look forward to, but we hope that you find something of interest here for you.
